How to Stick to Personal Deadlines

Hi loves! 

Happy Thursday! Hows your week been? This week I have only had 2 days of school because to the wildfire raging through throughout the Northern Orange County area. Thankfully we are all safe and please keep those affected throughout Northern CA and Orange County in your thoughts and prayers! Work-wise, this week has been a rough one. Essentially having a 6 day weekend + lots of sorority events + canceled classes  + trying to get the blog back on track really just leads to no work being done. I’m the kind of person who sets so many myself personal deadlines for everything whether its meal planning, scheduling blog posts, or shipping Poshmark orders. Today’s post is all about deadlines, enjoy and make sure to leave a comment below!

Deadlines– they may be your biggest nightmare or your biggest asset. You have never-ending to-do lists and may even be procrastinating sometimes but there is nothing like an upcoming deadline to keep you staying focused and getting your tasks done. When establishing personal deadlines for the end of the week, it becomes too easy to be lenient with yourself and your week-long deadline quickly turns into the next month.

Sticking to goals and deadlines is just as important as setting them. Here are four tips for sticking to your personal deadlines.

Establish Mini Milestones

We tend to be pretty ambitious when it comes to setting goals for ourselves. While that may seem to be a good thing, it also leads to feeling overwhelmed as it gets closer to the due date. Whether you are launching your own business, starting a blog, or developing a public relations plan, it’s helpful to break your tasks into multiple parts. By breaking up each one of your projects into smaller parts and assigning them deadlines, it makes them a little less daunting. Being able to manage these multiple parts allows the tasks to become less overwhelming.

Take Breaks When Working

It may seem counterintuitive, but taking breaks while you are working is very important and helps you keep on track to finishing your goal. Working for hours and hours will lead to quick burnout. Personally, I use the Pomodoro Methods, Jess Keys wrote an incredible post on it here! Taking a break every thirty minutes while you work can help you increase your focus. Grab a snack like Cheez-It’s or Halo Top, work on something else, watch your favorite HGTV show.

Hold yourself accountable

This is something that’s so important to me. I have to do lists posted everywhere just to keep me accountable for the work I have to do.   You will never be able to meet your deadlines if you don’t hold yourself accountable. Achieving or completing a goal isn’t going to motivate you, you need something that is going to inspire you and hold you accountable in completing your goal. This is why making yourself a reward or consequence system will keep you focused on completing your goal. When you complete yourself or meet your deadlines, treat yourself to a cup of coffee from your favorite coffee shop.

Don’t overwhelm yourself

As an entrepreneur, side hustler, blogger, you may often bite off more than you can chew. Realize when you need to slow down and put some things on the back burner. Learn to say no and learn to prioritize the more important tasks. Make sure to have some time down. Your personal well-being is so much more important than stressing yourself out!

Weekly Motivation #6

Hi loves!

I’m so sorry for the lack of posts lately, senior year has been such a whirlwind of emotions and events! I’m planning on doing a life lately recap sometime in the next few weeks to catch you all up on everything from Life/TriDelta/PostGrad/etc! I’ve been toggling with the idea of self hosting / changing the blog name for quiet some time now so I’m hoping to have it all figured by the new year!

This week is full of midterms, self love days, recruitment practices, blog post writing and lots of making new recipes! Here’s a little motivation for your week ahead!

Realistic Tips for being a Morning Person

Happy Wednesday loves!

Growing up, I was never a morning person, but as the years have gone on, I have slowly grown into be one. Now with classes in full swing, it’s time to start getting myself back to getting up early and being my most productive self instead of being lazy in bed watching Gilmore Girls all morning. Luckily, this semester my earliest class is at 10am, which isn’t horrible but I do have mostly night classes which leads to me getting lazy most days. I may not have the perfect formula to becoming a morning person, but I’m sharing some of my favorite ways to way up earlier, feel more energized, and just have a happier day!


Prepare for the week on Sunday

I’ll be doing a post on this a little later on but this makes such a big difference!  Do your laundry and check the weather~ every week is completely different in CA so it’s so important to have a wide variety of outfits on hand. I always have my backpack filled for the week and then add/takeout my notebook and computer so I can minimize stress throughout the week!

Go to bed Early & Wake Up Early

Honestly if I could spend all night binge-watching The Good Wife on Amazon and wake up feeling super energetic and functioning, I would. But thats not the case. As tempting as it is, I try to budget myself for 8 hours of sleep – so when I want to go to wake up at 7, I go to bed at 11. I know this is the last thing you want to hear, but waking up earlier will give you more time to get ready for your day. You will feel less rushed and can enjoy your morning routine rather than dread it. I always feel so much more productive (once the coffee kicks in)!

Inspire Yourself

I like to keep a list of a motivational quotes on my computer, my phone, in my planner, and by my bed so I can always have a little bit on inspo! When I have the time, I love going ont Pinterest to get myself ready for the day!

Forget about the Snooze Button

I’ve turned off the ‘snooze’ function on my alarm and let’s just say it works wonders for me. It may seem super rewarding when you are hitting the snooze button 4+ times but most of the time you won’t get any quality sleep after you’re finally awake and you will wake up even more tired. Put your phone/alarm across the room or find an annoying one that doesn’t turn off until you chase it.


Right when I wake up is definitely not when I feel most energized even if I’ve gotten plenty of sleep the night before. Stretching right when you wake up will help you to move around a bit and slowly get your body ready for the day. Not to forget to mention how good it feels to take some time to stretch in the morning!

Force Yourself Out of Bed

When all else fails, turn your alarm to 7am and force yourself to wake up early. It takes 21 days to form a habit so start today. Schedule your classes, work, exercise, and meetings early so that way it forces you to wake up earlier. Once you get a hang of it, it’ll become a habit that will be tricky to kick.

Hello Senior Year!

Hi loves!

Can you believe it’s already September!? August honestly went by so quickly and I’m still playing catch up from being on vacation/bronchitis. I know it’s been a while since I posted but I promise I am finally getting myself on an actual posting schedule (plz bear with me while I organize school/sorority/internship/life). I really do apologize for falling off the face of earth and not blogging every once in a while but I really do appreciate all the support from everyone in the blogging community. Here’s a little recap of what’s been happening the past month (including a fun travel recap)!


August began with a trip to England and Scotland to visit some family friends, explore the English countryside, stay in a boujee mansion, and get lost in the cobblestone streets of Edinburgh. My parents and I decided to visit some family friends in the London suburbs and boy what a trip it was! We got to spend two weeks traveling around Southwest England, as well as, a quick trip to Edinburgh! I’m so grateful to be able to spend time with our friends and my parents and just spend some time reflecting on the start of senior year! EEK still can’t believe I’m a senior!


HOLY CRAP, it’s already senior year!!! It is actually crazy that I’m already a senior in college and it has yet to hit me that a year from now I’m going to be fully adulting and (hopefully!) working a full-time job! Of course syllabus week is all fun and games and next week is when things start to get real but for the first time in a  long time I’m actually really excited about every class I am taking and not to mention the 1001 senior activities and sorority events to come! Also lots and lots of job apps and spreadsheets…

The Best Podcasts for the Inner #GirlBoss in You

So I am super super late to the podcast game, but I’m sure I’m not the only one? There are seriously thousands of podcasts out there on everything from News/Politics, Mystery/Thriller, Autobiography, How-To, Self-Help, Fashion and more! Personally, I’ve been really drawn to influencers, fashion, self-help, social media/marketing, and blogging podcasts. Today, I’ve decided to share some of my fav #GirlBoss motivational/inspirational podcasts with you!

Girlboss Radio by Sophia Amorosso

The O.G. Girlboss herself, Sophia Amorosso who launched her NYT bestselling book #GIRLBOSS has now launched her very own podcast. In each episode of Girlboss Radio Sophia interviews a wide variety of different girlbosses from all industries and walks of life each of whom give their own insight into their life and expreinces. If you are lost in a sea of podcasts and don’t know here to start, this is the perfect podcast for you! 

Women, Work, and Worth by Mavenly + Co

Over the years, Mavenly and Co has become one of my favorite website for everything #GirlBoss and when I heard the founders had a podcast, I just knew I had to listen!  Women, Work, and Worth was started by the creaters of Mavenly and Co. This podcast covers everything from self-discover, budgeting for your own financial freedom, meditation and everything in between. It’s quickly become one of my favorite Girl Boss podcasts with it’s overflow of life advice from the Mavenly and Co’s creaters and special guests such as authors, entrepreneurs and even doctors!

Lady Lovin’ by Lo Bosworth, Jilly Hendrix, and Greta Stanley

THIS IS MY FAVORITE PODCAST OF ALL TIME. Okay I’m not kididng though, anything with Lo Bosworth I automatically love. While it may not be the typical blogging/side hustle/creative podcast, this is perfect for all things female empowerment. The girls tackle everything from relationships and sex to businesses and startups and have some pretty incredible guests including entrepreneus, comedians, and activists. I can’t recommend Lady Lovin’ enough, seriously, grab your phone/computer and listen while you are driving, doing homework, or writing your latest blog post. 

 Make it Happen by Jen Carrington

Jen Carrington’s Make It Happen is “a podcast for curious, big-hearted, purpose-driven creatives”. When I first saw the tagline, I just knew that I had to listen to this podcast and it didn’t disappint! Jen talks about a wide range of subject matters that are so relateble to everyone. If you are looking for some inspirational conversations about soul-seraching and finding your purpose be sure to listen to Make It Happen right now! 

Millenial by Megan Tan

I just stumbled up this podcast this week and I’m already hooked! Megan Tan discussed what it’s like to be a milennial in this ever changing society we live in. Millennial discusses everything you need to know to navitage your 20s and has quickly become one of my favorite podcasts to listen to! I 10/10 recommend Millennial for any recent or soon-to-be college grads! 

Online Marketing Made Easy by Amy Porterfield

If you are interested in the Marketing, PR, Digital Marketing industries like I am, this is the perfect podcast for you! Amy Porterfield provides tips and tricks on everything digital and social media marketing including online courses, social media, and cotent creation. Online Marketing Made Easy is the perfect podcast for the inspiring marketing professional or blogger! I just started listening to this podcasts while driving to LA/SD and I’ve learned everything about developing the perfect social media campaign! 

The Lively Show by Jess Lively 

The Lively Show is one of the first podcasts I’ve ever listened to and to this day it’s still one of my faovirtes. Jess Lively is such an inspirational women and she shares her philosophy and life antidotes both on her blog and podcast which touches on all aspects of life.

Weekly Motivation #5

Hi hi!

Hope everyone had an incredible weekend! I spent Saturday with my best friends in San Diego doing some brunching and shopping and then a 21st birthday party for one of my sorority sisters yesterday in the valley!

21 things I’ve Learned in 21 years

Hi Loves! 

This past weekend was my 21st birthday! Looking back at the past 21 years, it’s so crazy how time flies! There are days that I honestly feel like I’m still 16. I’ve said this so many times but this past year has been such a whirlwind and I have truly learned so much about myself and life in general.

I’d like to think that I’ve learned some things over the past 21 years other than the quadratic equation and want to share some my wisdom with all of you! Here are 21 things that I have learned in my mere 21 years of life and some pics to recap the weekend’s festivities. Enjoy! 

  1. Be kind. No matter what. 
  2. Stay humble.
  3. It’s okay to cry, actually, it’s very important to cry.
  4. Stay in touch with your family and friends, no matter how near or far they are. Processed with VSCO with c1 preset
  5. If it doesn’t matter in a year, it’s not worth the stress.
  6. Keep an open mind – Don’t be quick to judge people/things. 
  7. Don’t be afraid to ask for help.
  8. Stay true to your childhood dreams.

  10. Take care of your body – hop on the treadmill, eat some kale
  11. Alone time is one of the best things you can do for yourself.
  12. Push negativity aside.
  13. Believe in yourself.
  14. It’s okay when plans change.

  16. Stand up for what you believe in, even if you alone.
  17. Volunteer.
  18. Don’t make promises you can’t keep.
  19. Start every morning with positive thoughts. 
  20. Moderation is key.
  21. You don’t need to know what you want to do with your life at 21. 

At this point in my life, I honestly feel like the possibilities are endless. I’m excited for what the year ahead has for me and I can’t wait to share this crazy journey called life with all of you!
